Arc Intermedia Celebrates 10 Years
A Message from Arc President and Founder David Sonn
Hi, I’m David Sonn, president and founder of Arc Intermedia.
A little more than 10 years ago, when I had the idea for this company, digital marketing was far less sophisticated than it is today. In fact, it wasn’t even called digital marketing yet. I was excited by the notion that I could use a combination of these evolving online tactics to drive new customers and revenue for clients and have an actual effect on their financial success. Unlike traditional marketing, everything would be tracked and measured, and this scary level of accountability was somehow enticing to me.
And now 10 years later, companies that trusted our startup then are still trusting us today. Thank you. And thank you to all our clients who have trusted us to move the needle for their businesses. You don’t make it 10 years in business without being afforded some level of trust along the way.
What does merging evolving marketing tactics and accountability look like 10 years later? Just ask our clients, many of which have been with us since day one. To the clients who took a chance on a forward-thinking startup, we want to say thank you. Your support allowed us to grow and become the company we are a decade later. Older, wiser, and still accountable. To the clients who have joined us along the way, we want to thank you for trusting us with your business. We are incredibly grateful. It’s safe to say, you don’t make it to 10 years without being afforded some level of trust along the way.
When developing the concept for the new company, I also wanted to conduct business differently. I wanted it to provide true life-work balance. I wanted to create an environment unlike anything the big companies were willing to offer the same talented people I was trying to attract. It began by setting up remote servers, and ultimately cloud services, to access every tool and every file we needed to conduct business anywhere. With tech in place, I took on limited office space, just enough for weekly staff gatherings and occasional client meetings. I eliminated the traditional daily grind of commuting and the rigid requirements of time spent in an office. Being accessible to our clients didn’t require big offices, in fact our willingness to meet clients at their location made it easier for them. With this approach, the bulk of our work week could be conducted at home or literally anywhere. This strategy has proven especially effective during this terrible pandemic in that we haven’t missed a beat.
It takes a special type of person to embrace this nontraditional style of work and I’m very blessed to have an incredibly smart and talented team that I never have to manage. They have the commitment and dedication to do what is best for our clients and for the agency. They just get it done. Clearly, they are a big reason we can celebrate this 10-year milestone. I do need to make special mention of Mike Maier, our now VP of Solutions and Experience, who has been part of Arc, even before Day One. He trusted my vision and signed on when Arc was still just a concept. Thank you for believing, Mike.
Lastly, I want to thank the families of the Arc team that support us when we’re working through crazy deadlines, or analyzing massive datasets, or pondering why the orange button gets more clicks than the green one. Thank you for not asking why, but rather providing the backing we need.
I appreciate everyone who has supported Arc these many years, and I’m confident we’ll be doing this in another 10. Hopefully without masks. Thank you!
